| There Are My Instruments | ||
| Living in South Florida, it's impossible to keep any kind of collection in good shape unless you can protect it from the elements. The humidity and temperature here fluctuates wildly and that's not good for a stringed instrument. The humidity can be 50% in the morning and 100% by noon and changes with the temperature. Over time this will warp, bow, twist, crack, and destroy a guitar. I used to keep them all here in the studio with me because I love being surrounded but in consideration of my investment and all of the things that can happen, including thieves, fire etc., I decided to rent a secure vault that is maintained at a constant 75 degrees at 50% humidity. Under those conditions my babies are going to last forever! A funny thing is that a guitar in the locker can stay in tune for a year but then when I pick it up, by the time I get it back to the studio (about 20 minutes) it's totally out of tune! The vault is worth the 39. /mo fee. | ||
